HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The city of Hanceville celebrated the America 250 on Saturday, July 25, at C.W. Day Park.
The day-long festivities include food and beverage options like JJ’s Tacos, Warehouse Nutrition and fresh watermelon slices. There were also several different vendors to browse, one of which traveled from Birmingham.
Both children and adults got to spend time playing in the fun zone sponsored by Life Church, with three bounce houses and face painting available.
Admission to the pool was free all day, and there was a dunking booth where many children tested their aim.
Fire trucks were on-site, displaying flags and allowing visitors to get a close-up look, and live music included O’Toole Brothers, Junction 231, Billmon Road Band and Jesse Priest.
The celebration was capped off by a grand fireworks display.
According to Hanceville City Councilman Robert Powell, the event was a step forward in transparency to gain the trust of the community and bring everyone back together. He said he wants the residents of Hanceville to take pride in their town once more, and this event was just the beginning of what’s to come.
