CULLMAN, Ala. — Tourism continues to be a major economic driver for Cullman County, generating more than $325.5 million in visitor spending and supporting 3,468 jobs in 2025, according to the newly released Alabama Tourism Department Economic Impact Report.
The report shows Cullman County experienced one of the strongest years on record, with visitor spending increasing 16.3% over the previous year — more than four times Alabama’s statewide tourism growth rate of 4%.
“Cullman County’s tourism industry continues to reach new heights, creating meaningful economic opportunities for our communities, businesses and residents,” said Harmony Heard, executive director of Visit Cullman. “Tourism is creating jobs, supporting local businesses, generating tax revenue and improving quality of life for our residents.”
According to the report, tourism generated:
- $325.5 million in visitor spending
- 3,468 tourism-supported jobs
- $93.2 million in tourism-generated earnings
- 15.1% growth in tourism employment
- 16.1% growth in tourism-generated earnings
The report also ranked Cullman County 14th in Alabama for total tourism-supported employment.
Tourism impacts nearly every sector of the local economy, including hotels, restaurants, retail businesses, attractions, entertainment venues, outdoor recreation providers and transportation services. Visitor spending helps support small businesses throughout the county while generating tax revenues that benefit residents and local governments.
“Tourism is about far more than attracting visitors — it is about creating opportunities for our residents, supporting local businesses and strengthening the places we call home,” Heard said. “These results reflect what can happen when communities work together toward a shared vision. We are grateful to our municipal partners, city councils, county commission, attractions, hotels, restaurants, event organizers and business community whose commitment helps make Cullman County a destination people choose to visit, invest in and experience.”
Statewide, Alabama welcomed more than 29.2 million visitors in 2025, generating a record-setting $24.9 billion in travel expenditures and supporting 255,780 jobs.
