BERLIN, Ala. – The Berlin Town Council at its June 15 meeting adopted a new amusement and gaming device ordinance and announced an upcoming event.
The council addressed Ordinance No. 2026-002, to amend Ordinance No. 2026-005 pertaining to business licenses for amusement and gaming devices.
“Anything that rewards a tangible prize is covered under this business license ordinance,” Mayor Patrick Bates stated.
This will put into effect yearly fees amounting to $1,200 per device to maintain certain entertainment devices.
Bates spoke to the council about potentially replacing cross drains, culverts and more along County Roads 1619 and 1620.
This item was tabled until the town receives additional quotes.
Bates previously advised the council to consider and compile suggestions for revised street names. There were no updates, but the council will address the matter at a later date.
The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Cup O’ Community networking event at the Berlin Farmers Market on Tuesday, June 23, from 2-4 p.m. Coffee will be provided by Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck and the first 25 customers will receive a free cup of coffee.
“Whether you’re a longtime resident, a new neighbor, business owner, community leader, or simply looking to make new connections, we invite you to stop by, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy some meaningful conversation,” the town said.
The next Berlin Town Council meeting will be on Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m. at Berlin Town Hall.
