CULLMAN, Ala. – After going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, former Cullman Bearcats tight end Kaleb Heatherly accepted an invite to participate in the Indianapolis Colts’ Rookie Minicamp on May 8-9.
“The Colts had shown a lot of interest in me since I played at the Dream Bowl, and going into the weekend I was hoping I’d receive a call from Indianapolis,” Heatherly told The Tribune. He continued, “Saturday was a very long day, and I knew that was the day I’d be expecting some calls but when they called me I knew I was ready to be an Indianapolis Colt and am super excited to get to work at minicamp in two weeks.”
The 6-foot-6 end played four years at North Alabama in Florence, catching 17 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions in 2025. While his frame makes him a receiving threat, his value as a rookie will be in his blocking and special teams abilities.
As the league shifts back towards big-bodied blocking tight ends, evident by the selections in this year’s draft, Heatherly’s strengths and violent style of play could land him a spot on the Colts’ training camp roster later this summer.
