MILLBROOK – Wallace State won the ACCC Women’s Tennis Tournament championship at 17 Springs in Millbrook, finishing with victories in five singles finals and all three doubles finals against Coastal Alabama South. With the win, the Lady Lions earned a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament in Sumter, South Carolina, scheduled for May 2-6.
In singles play, Wallace State claimed titles at No. 1 through No. 5 singles.
At No. 1 singles, Madison Standifer defeated Walter of Coastal Alabama South 6-4, 6-2. Jaedyn Martin won the No. 2 singles championship with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-0 victory over Mabiongo. Indira Wilson earned the No. 3 singles title by defeating Johnson 7-5, 7-5.
Lydia Lichlyter captured the No. 4 singles championship with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lamgendries. Elizabeth Standifer rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Stenger 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles final.
At No. 6 singles, Jayden Johnson fell to Kocyte in the semifinals 6-2, 6-0.
Wallace State also swept the doubles championships.
At No. 1 doubles, Madison Standifer and Wilson defeated Mabiongo and Kocyte 6-3, 6-3. Lichlyter and Martin won the No. 2 doubles title with a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Walter and Stenger.
At No. 3 doubles, Elizabeth Standifer and Johnson defeated Lamgendries and Parris 6-4, 7-6.
Following the tournament, Madison Standifer was named ACCC Player of the Year.
Standifer and Martin earned first-team all-conference honors, while Wilson was named second-team all-conference.
