CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman senior Thomas Norwood is very thankful to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, and that has helped him become the person that he is today. He has a certain Bible verse and a favorite song to lean on to help him throughout the day.

“I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to have a relationship with Christ. I’m grateful to live in a town where I have many churches where I can get to know Christ. I love to go and worship and learn more about the Lord and His word. I wouldn’t be here without Him. Before I got to know the Lord and got baptized, I was very lost, but I have changed so much. I believe anything is possible with God,” Norwood said. “Phillippians 4:13 is my favorite Bible verse, because it shows that God made you to do great things. My favorite song to listen to while reading His word is Hard Fought Hallelujah by Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll.”

Thomas talks about how important it is to help guide people towards God, and being that kind of role model to younger kids is extremely important to him as well. He did photography for Cullman’s basketball team this past season, and they quickly became his role models on and off the court.

“I would say it’s important to help, guide, or encourage people to go to church. I believe it’s important to help guide people,” Norwood said. “It’s really important, because I know the next generation’s faith is based on the type of people our generation is and will be. My role models are Cullman’s basketball coaches and the players, because I’ve made friends that will last for the rest of my time here on this Earth. I did photography for them, and they absolutely loved it. I really leaned on them, because they are really great people on and off the court. I go to church with one of the players, and we both try to make sure we separate ourselves from the sin in the world. I used photography to encourage and motivate the team.”

He kept his advice short and sweet when it comes to helping people have that same kind of relationship with God. Even though he’s only been doing photography since last April, it has completely changed not only his life, but so many others as well.

“It’s never too late to have a relationship with God. There’s no better time than now,” Norwood said. “It was incredible and an amazing experience and opportunity to take pictures of Cullman’s basketball team this past season. It’s changed me not only as a photographer but as a person, and it will change the next generation of photographers’ lives as well.”

Thomas has taken away a lot during his walk with God.

“No one is alone, and no matter how bad you think your life may be, you could always have it worse.”
