CULLMAN, Ala. – United Way of Cullman County invests donor dollars back into local nonprofits that are working every day to improve life for residents of Cullman County.
Resource Development & Outreach Manager Taylor Johnson said through a community-guided process, these funds help support programs that strengthen the county and help individuals and families thrive.
“United Way’s allocations process is a collaborative effort that brings community volunteers together to review nonprofit funding applications, evaluate needs and recommend how annual campaign funds should be invested,” Johnson said. “This approach ensures transparency and that donated dollars have the greatest possible impact in Cullman County. The allocations process allows United Way to partner with qualified nonprofits addressing a range of community needs. Volunteers review each application thoughtfully and in depth. They study program proposals and budgets and listen to agency representatives to understand how services make a difference on the ground.”
Johnson said by participating in this process, local agencies have the opportunity to share their work and secure funding that supports their mission, programs, staff and the individuals and families they serve.
“United Way Worldwide’s refreshed approach to impact underscores a holistic view of community well-being,” Johnson said. “Local United Ways align with four focus areas when making funding decisions.”
Together, these focus areas guide community investments and align United Way’s work with measurable outcomes that help local residents live healthier, more stable and more resilient lives.
- Healthy Community – supporting programs that improve health and well-being in all its forms and remove barriers to healthy living
- Youth Opportunity – investing in programs that help children and youth reach their full potential
- Financial Security – strengthening economic stability and resilience for families and individuals
- Community Resiliency – building stronger systems and support that help individuals and neighborhoods withstand and recover from challenges
Allocation applications are now open for the upcoming funding cycle. Eligible nonprofit organizations serving Cullman County are encouraged to submit their applications for funding consideration. The deadline is Friday, Feb. 20, at 4:30 p.m. Applications submitted after the deadline cannot be considered.
“This is a meaningful opportunity for nonprofits to secure funding that helps sustain and expand services that strengthen our community,” Johnson said. “We look forward to reviewing your applications and partnering with you to build a stronger, healthier and more resilient Cullman County.”
