Myrex sails to victory in State House District 12 Special General Election

CULLMAN, Ala. – Republican Cindy Myrex easily defeated Democrat Matthew Glover in the Tuesday, Oct. 28, State House District 12 Special General Election. Voter turnout was very low, at 6.4%.

Results reported by the Cullman County Probate Office Tuesday evening, with 28 of 29 boxes counted:

  • Myrex: 87.06% (1,944)
  • Glover: 12.85% (287)
  • Write-in: .09% (2)

Back on Aug. 12, Myrex bested Republican Clint Hollingsworth in the State House District 12 Special Primary Runoff Election. Hollingsworth collected 41.47% (2,160) of the vote, while Myrex got 58.53% (3,048).

The seat had been empty since former Rep. Corey Harbison, R-Good Hope, resigned in April.
