Gypsy Soul Antiques & Things is a store that embodies an eclectic appreciation of the past. In addition to vintage finds, the store is so much more than just a unique place to shop. It’s a vibrant, welcoming space where creativity, faith and female empowerment meet.

Owner Lindsey Blackwood founded the shop during a pivotal moment in her life, transforming personal trials into a mission to uplift others.

“I felt like I was taking a lot of the broken things in my life and making them new again. That’s what Gypsy’s is all about — taking something old, giving it new life and honoring the story behind it,” she shared.

Gypsy Soul offers a thoughtfully curated mix of antique furniture, eccentric décor, handmade goods and boutique clothing that speaks to women of all styles and ages — from funky, bohemian flair to traditional Southern charm.

“Whether you’re 4 or 84, we want everyone to find something here that makes them feel beautiful, seen and valued,” Blackwood said.

Beginning with humble roots and booth rentals, Gypsy quickly grew thanks to overwhelming and loving support from the local community. “I didn’t even really advertise — people just showed up,” she said. “The Cullman community rallied around me, and I’ve felt nothing but love.”

The store also offers a small clothing boutique featuring one-of-a-kind fashion pieces and styling tips, such as how to transform scarves and vintage ties into statement necklaces, all designed to help people express their personalities. Beyond the items on the shelves, the true heart of Gypsy Soul is its purpose to empower women, foster creativity and build a strong, artistic community. Blackwood said she regularly invites local artists and young entrepreneurs to contribute to displays, sell their creations or find inspiration.

“If I had all the money in the world, I’d buy up a whole block and rent it affordably to young women just getting started,” she said. “There’s so much talent in this town. I want Gypsy to be part of nurturing that.”

As Gypsy Soul Antiques & Things continues to grow, Blackwood hopes to continue growing as both a business and a safe, expressive space for all women — no matter their background, age or budget.

“God can take something broken and make it beautiful again,” she said. “That’s the story behind everything we do here.”
