BAILEYTON, Ala. – Mayor Windell Calloway commenced the monthly session of the Baileyton Town Council on Aug. 4, 2025. The meeting opened with an invocation led by Councilman Greg Griffin.

The council began by quickly reflecting on recent events. Mayor Calloway commended the profit of the summer Bargain Days events stating that the Town made over $11,000 over the past two months. He said, “This is money that we can use to put back into the park, and we have been very fortunate to have that.”

Likewise, the Latham Horse Show had a successful turnout profiting over $1,600.

After setting dates for several upcoming events, the last order of business on the agenda was to hear from a resident about personal property stored in one of the Town’s buildings. After the council agreed to let the resident search for his property, another resident requested the floor. Mayor Calloway declined to hear from any other parties.

At the adjournment of the meeting, Mayor Calloway excused himself, but several council members and residents stayed behind to discuss what they would like to see changed in the upcoming year.

Resident Vance Easterwood stated that he would like a more streamlined process for being added to the agenda. “I sent an email and tried to contact them through the Cullman Chamber of Commerce but could never get in touch with anybody,” he said.

An anonymous resident asked for more park access or at least posted times designating the park’s availability. “I drove to the park a few different times this weekend and it was closed and locked every time,” she stated.

Michelle Fisher stated that she would like to have more transparency about the Town’s budget and agenda and requested that both be available to residents at each meeting.

Residents expressed their excitement to make their voices heard at the Baileyton Municipal Election, which will take place Aug. 26, 2025.
