FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Fairview’s Allidy Hackney collected her diploma in May, and in this interview, she shared some of her favorite high school memories, plus the amazing experience that she had in theater alongside some great people.
“My favorite high school memories were our homecoming weeks. They were so much fun, and Friday night football games are some memories I’ll always have. I also have so much love for our theater and the memories I made with that group,” Hackney said. “It was an absolutely amazing experience. I had the honor to be our stage manager the past four years, and it was truly life changing. The friendships I made are some I will have for a lifetime, and our theater directors helped us in so many ways that extended out of our usual theater-related things. Some of my favorite theater memories were when we were building sets and props for our shows and all the crazy things we did to pass time backstage. We even did pushups one time for not projecting. It was so funny. I learned how to be a leader and to get out of my shell. Do things, even if they seem a little scary, you may just have a great time doing it.”
Allidy felt blessed to be at Fairview, and she will remember and miss so much about being an Aggie.
“It is such a welcoming place. The teachers are absolutely amazing, and there are so many sport and club opportunities for everyone,” Hackney said. “I will remember and miss all of the afternoons spent with other students for practices and waiting on football games, or for our theater shows to start. The time I got to spend with all my friends is what I think I’ll miss the most.”
She also participated in her fair share of clubs at Fairview, and learned an important thing from being in the Key Club.
“It was great. I got to learn what a great leader was. I was our Key Club president, so learning how to lead a whole group was great. I also made any friends in those groups,” she said. “I received a Cullman Savings Scholarship from Wallace State Community College. I was so grateful and happy that I was going to have help towards my college. I will be majoring in Early Childhood Development.”
Allidy gave some advice to the students that will be starting high school in August, and she talked about the huge role that God has played in her life.
“Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and go out and make friends. Join that club, and just go out and make every day count. Years now, when you look back, all those memories will be there, and you will be so grateful you put yourself out there,” she said. “God plays the biggest role in my life. There is nothing I want more than to live my life for Christ. My favorite Bible verses are John 3:16 and Isaiah 60:22. These verses keep me going knowing that Jesus died for me, and that I am saved by His grace. God’s timing is always right.”
Allidy has a lot of younger kids looking up to her in and outside of school and being a role model for them is important to her.
“It was extremely important to me. I had a lot of kids that looked up to me almost as a big sister, and I hope that I impacted them in the best way possible,” she said. “I want people to remember me for my kindness. I really hope I made an impact on my friends and the other people at the school.”
