Jerry Eugene McKnight, affectionately known as Gene, passed away at the age of 85. Born on June 29, 1939, Gene called Cullman, Alabama his hometown and carried the warmth and strength of his roots with him throughout his life.

Gene proudly served for several years in the United States Army and remained a man of deep Christian faith until his final day. His unwavering belief in God was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and relationships with those around him.

Gene worked for many years at Diebold, where he specialized in repairing ATMs. Known for his mechanical skills and attention to detail, he also had a passion for working on cars in his free time. He especially loved attending the Hot Rod Power Tour, a testament to his love for classic cars and good company.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Gene found joy in fishing, shooting, and the simple pleasures of life. He also loved line dancing — always quick to join in with a smile. But above all, he was a selfless, family-oriented man who treasured time with his loved ones more than anything.

Gene is survived by his devoted wife, Linda McKnight; his children, Susan Sisk, Andy Hogue, and Daisy Simpson; his grandchildren, Daniel Sisk, Madeline Sisk, Alyssa Simpson, Malachi Sisk, Tyler Hogue, and Kaytlin Hogue; and his brother, Jack McKnight.

Though no funeral or memorial service will be held, Gene’s legacy lives on through the memories he created and the love he gave so generously. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
