Santiago has withdrawn for the Hanceville mayoral race, posted the following message on his social media accounts:
“Today, I stand before you with gratitude and humility. It has been an honor to engage with so many of you—neighbors, friends, and fellow leaders—who share a passion for the future of our great community. Serving Hanceville is not just an ambition; it is a commitment rooted in decades of leadership, accountability, and a drive to create lasting progress.
“Throughout my career as a Naval Officer, I upheld the highest standards of service, protecting our country with unwavering dedication. In the private sector, I have led with integrity, overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets, driving strategic development, and ensuring that the values of leadership and responsibility guide every decision. My experiences have prepared me to take on challenges, build solutions, and work tirelessly for the people I serve.
“However, after deep reflection and consideration, I have made the decision to withdraw my candidacy for mayor. Leadership is not solely about ambition—it is about recognizing when the best course of action serves the greater good. I will not run against my dear friend and brother, **Paul Campbell**, whose commitment to this city is evident. His campaign carries the vision and determination needed to propel Hanceville forward, and I wish him all success in his journey.
“Furthermore, I hold steadfast to my belief that pastors should remain separate from the realm of politics. While faith is a guiding force in our lives, the pulpit should be a place of spiritual leadership and moral guidance, unburdened by the complexities of governance. Our city deserves leadership rooted in strategic expertise, unwavering accountability, and dedication to practical solutions—qualities I have spent my life embodying.
“Though I step away from this race, my commitment to Hanceville remains unchanged. I will continue to work tirelessly for police reform, economic development, stronger community initiatives, and youth programs ensuring that our city thrives in every aspect. This is not the end of my service; rather, it is a redirection of my focus toward meaningful change.
“To my supporters who have stood by me in this journey, I ask you—go and cast your vote for Brother Paul Campbell. Support his vision, his leadership, and his dedication to our beloved city. Hanceville deserves a strong and principled leader, and I have full confidence in his ability to carry that responsibility forward.
“God bless, and may the future of our city be bright.
“Sincerely,
“Oscar Santiago”
