BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. – A 10-year-old child has died following a two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:06 p.m. Friday, May 16. Five other people were injured in the crash.
Alabama State Troopers said the child was critically injured when the 2009 Honda Civic the child was a passenger in struck a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by Richard E. Rucker Jr., 67, of Addison.
They said Rucker and Annette Dean Clark Rucker, 60, of Addison, a passenger in the Ford Explorer, were both injured and transported to Cullman Regional.
The 10-year-old child was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, where the child later succumbed to injuries on Saturday, May 17.
The driver of the Honda Civic, Tabbatha Shanae Christine Jackson, 34, of Hayden, was injured and transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment. Two additional juveniles, a 10-year-old and 15-year-old, who were also passengers in the Honda Civic, were injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Blount County 55 near Black Road, approximately 2 miles north of Blountsville, in Blount County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
