CULLMAN, Ala. – Senate Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman, announced at the monthly meeting of the North Alabama Agriplex that he has secured $1.1 million in funding for the capital campaign to expand and create new facilities in Cullman.

“Through the state Education Trust Fund supplemental bill, the state General Fund budget and $50,000 of local funding, funds can now be available to move the Agriplex expansion plans to reality,” said a media release.

Gudger commended Agriplex Executive Director Rachel Dawsey, her staff and the members of the board while making the announcement.

“The Agriplex teaches the value of agriculture to young people from all over north Alabama, and it teaches future generations about our rich agricultural heritage whether they attend public schools, private schools or are homeschooled,” Gudger said. “Assets like the Agriplex are what make our area such a special place to live, work, worship and raise children, and I am happy to secure this funding on its behalf.”

Previously operated as the Alabama Agriculture Museum and Hall of Fame, the North Alabama Agriplex offers educational programs on farming to both children and adults, sponsors summer camps for youth and engages in outreach with local schools.
