WSCC BASEBALL: Lions look to make some noise at ACCC Tournament Championship

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Lions’ baseball team heads to Oxford on Thursday to compete in the 2025 ACCC Division I Baseball Championship. They finished the regular season with a 33-21 record overall and 21-15 in conference play. The Lions are the fifth seed and will open play against Northwest-Shoals on Thursday at 11:00 am.

Shelton State (27-9 in conference play) is the top seed, followed by Gadsden State, Coastal Alabama – South, Northwest-Shoals, Wallace State, and Chattahoochee Valley. The Lions finished 9-11 against this year’s tournament field.

Colten Payton leads the team at the plate with 10 home runs and 12 doubles. He is second on the team with 35 runs scored, 54 hits, 39 RBIs, and third with a .331 batting average and 25 walks. Andrew Lawrence leads the team with a .354 batting average, 57 hits, and 49 runs scored. He is second on the team with eight home runs and third with 32 RBIs. Austin Nix leads the team with 43 RBIs and is tied with Payton with 10 home runs and 12 doubles. He is third with 32 runs scored.

Luke Fernandez leads the team with an 8-2 record, 127 strikeouts, a 1.34 ERA, six complete games, and 80.2 innings pitched. He leads the conference in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. He has a 14.2 K/9 to lead the conference.

Cole Molina is second on the team and conference with a 3.12 ERA. He is second on the team and third in the conference with 58 strikeouts. He has a 5-2 record with three complete games.

The 2025 Division I ACCC Baseball Tournament will begin May 8 and continue through May 11 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL. Games are as follows (game times are subject to change without notice). All times are CT.
