HOLLY POND, Ala. – At its Monday, May 5, meeting, the Holly Pond Town Council approved the minutes and financial report from last month’s meeting before moving on to committee updates, including plans for new landscaping near the event center, ongoing streetlight and sign repairs and preparations to request paving bids for several roads.

Safety concerns were discussed regarding a repeatedly damaged stop sign, with what the council said were continued delays in replacement from the County.

Weather-related scheduling changes were acknowledged at the ballpark, and the concession stand was praised for performing well. With grant funding, new benches and tables have been installed, and future improvements were discussed.

The Town will only pay 10% for the new benches and picnic tables along the walking track. The council is also considering applying for a no-match recreational grant of up to $25,000 for further park upgrades, such as resurfacing the parking lot and enhancing accessibility in designated ADA-compliant spaces behind the concession area.

Preparations for the Aug. 26, 2025, Municipal Election are underway. Four poll workers have been secured, and an official election notice will be released in June. A special Alabama House District 11 Primary Election will also occur at the fire department on May 13.
