1 hospitalized after hit-and-run crash, pursuit

CULLMAN, Ala. – One person was hospitalized tonight after a reported hit-and-run crash and pursuit in the city of Cullman.

According to officials with the City of Cullman, the Cullman Police Department responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a Dodge Ram pick-up truck and a Chevrolet Malibu at approximately 6:36 p.m.

“The Dodge Ram later struck another vehicle and fled, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit,” said a statement from the City.

Officials said the chase began at Loring Street Northwest and U.S. Highway 31, and the suspect collided with a CPD investigator’s vehicle at Main Avenue and Third Street.

“The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into a wall adjacent to Modernistic Printer’s (sic),” the statement said. “The suspect was transported to a local hospital due to injuries sustained from the crash; no officers were harmed. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor. The incident remains under investigation, and charges are pending.”
