
HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville hosted Susan Moore for a varsity matchup Monday afternoon and the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in this one. They continued adding to their lead as the game went on and ended up routing Susan Moore 16-1.
Hanceville got things going offensively in their opening at-bats. Bentley Childers got hit by the pitch, then she stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. Maddyson Bryant drew a walk, and Josi Jones hit a two-run triple to right field to put them on the scoreboard first. Jones and Karrigan Pipkin each scored on a passed ball to extend their lead to 4-0. Susan Moore cut it to 4-1 in the top of the second on a Hanceville error.
Hanceville added to their lead in their half. Childers drew a leadoff walk and later scored on a passed ball to make it 5-1. After Bryant drew a walk, she stole second, then Bella Spinks hit an RBI single to right field, as that pushed their lead to 6-1. After a Susan Moore error, Kynzlee Farr hit a two-run double to extend their lead to 8-1. Alex Twitty followed that up with an RBI double of her own to make it 9-1. Piper Butts increased their lead to 10-1 on a ground ball.
Jones and Spinks each hit an RBI double in the bottom of the third to make it 12-1. Mariano hit a sacrifice fly, Farr scored on an error, and Childers drove in a run on a bunt single to give Hanceville a 15-1 lead. Back-to-back errors in the fourth allowed Jones to cross the plate, as Hanceville would go on to defeat Susan Moore, 16-1.
Jones led the way for Hanceville with two hits and three RBIs. Spinks and Farr each added a pair of hits and two RBIs. Childers (one hit), Alex Twitty (one hit), Mariano, and Butts all drove in a run for Hanceville. Spinks and Farr gave up a combined one hit and no earned runs and struck out four.
