BREMEN, Ala. — Cold Springs senior Savannah Bischoff has already had some success and reached several of her own goals and she gives all the credit to her faith. In this interview, Savannah talked about her relationship with God and the role he has played in her life.

“God has played a huge role in my life every day. He has always been there for me through everything I do, whether it’s color guard, rodeo, or even just my everyday routine. I always pray with my team before my color guard performances and before my rodeo runs, and give the glory to Him after, because I do it all for Him. He has given me these talents so that I can shine His light through the things that I do,” Bischoff said. “My favorite Bible verses are Luke 12:27-28: ‘Consider how the wildflowers grow. If that’s how God clothes the grass, which is in the field today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, how much will He do for you?”, and Isaiah 40:31: ‘But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.’ Luke 12:27-28 reminds me not to worry about anything and that I am worth so much to God. He will do great things for me as long as I have faith. Isaiah 40:31 reminds me that as long as I have faith in the Lord, I am able to do anything through Him. These verses give me encouragement and remind me to have faith and not worry about anything.”

Helping other people, especially kids, find God, is one of her top priorities, along with being a Godly role model for a lot of people.

“It means the world to me to help others find God. I love telling others about Him, all the things that He has done for me, and how much He can do for them as well. At school, I participate in FCA and First Priority. I think that these are great ways to spread God’s word and tell others how much they are loved. I hope that my friends, people in my school, and everyone else I meet know that they could always come and talk to me. I want everyone to know God, because I know He loves them so much, and He can do great things in their lives, just like He has for me,” She said. “I think everyone should have a Godly role model in their life. I try to be that person to everyone, because I feel that’s what God has called me to be. You can really see a difference in people when they have God. They light up, and I love seeing others shine His light and grow in their faith. You never know how much people are going through, and I think it is so important to always be kind and encouraging to everyone. I love the phrase, ‘Love like Jesus.’ I try to love like Him every day and shine His light through me for others to see Him.”

Savannah loves praying to help herself and other people get even closer to God. She participates in a couple clubs and teams at Cold Springs and she says her faith has helped her in all those activities as well.

“I have been the Chaplin for the band at Cold Springs for two years now and have always prayed with my color guard team before performances for as long as I have been on the team. I love praying over everyone and inviting everyone to pray if they feel led to as well. I think that this has been one of my favorite parts of being in color guard: seeing others grow in their faith and pray over the team and the band as well. I also lead FCA and First Priority sometimes at school, and this is always a good way to spread the word of God, and help others get to know Him. I always let the people that I speak to know that they can talk to me if they need anything or that they can pray with me anytime.”

The girls on the color guard team, along with her coach, really helped out Savannah when she first got started in the band, and that has helped her in her faith with each passing day.

“I grew up always going to church and have known God for a long time, but I think that my faith has really gotten a lot stronger in the past few years. The girls that were on color guard when I first started, as well as my coach, have all really brought me out of my shell. I also think that being an officer in FCCLA at school has helped me to be more outgoing as well by getting used to public speaking and meeting new people at state and nationals. I have gained so many new friendships over the past few years, and I have a great circle of friends that are all so encouraging and love God just like me. I love going to church with my friends and helping them get closer to God, and they do the same for me.”

Savannah has had so many great Godly role models in her life that have helped her become the person that she is today. She also gave advice to those people who want a relationship with God but might be new to that kind of experience.

“My mom and dad, Jennifer and Joey Bischoff, have always encouraged me to grow in my faith. They have taken me to church and supported me through everything in my life. My color guard coach, Treasure Tubbs, has been a big role model in faith for me as well. She always prayed with us and has also shared scriptures with us. She made me feel like I could talk to her about God anytime. My friends at school are also wonderful Godly people that I love to surround myself with all the time. I go to Lonesome Dove Cowboy Church, as well as Daystar Church, but the pastor, Tim Collier, and former youth pastors, Ava and DJ King at Lonesome Dove, have been really big role models in my life. They have helped me to become the girl I am today, through going to youth church camp and always being there for me. Mrs. Stephanie Blair is my FCCLA advisor and teacher. She always encourages me to be my best and reach my goals. She has always been there to pray with me and the other FCCLA members. She is a big role model in my life as well,” Bischoff said. “I would tell them to find their crowd. Finding a good, like-minded circle of friends is so important to having a relationship with God. I would tell them to find a church they love or more than one church and to never be afraid to talk to people who want to help them, including God. Praying and reading the Bible always helps me when I feel discouraged. I would say to never lose faith, because God has always got their back, and He loves them so much. It may not be easy, and it takes effort to have a relationship with God, but it is so wonderful to know Him, and it will all be worth it for all the things He can do in their lives and when they get to heaven.”

Putting Him first has definitely changed Savannah’s life for the better, and she has learned a lot of things about herself during her journey so far.

“Putting Him first has changed my life, because I wouldn’t be able to do anything without Him. He allows me to do everything I do, and He wants the best for me. I try to shine His light through everything I do every day and having Him with me gives me encouragement and strength to get through anything,” she said. “I have learned to always put God first in everything you do. Always do everything for Him and glorify Him in all you do. I have also learned that God can do so much in your life, and He will, if you have faith, and put in the work to have that relationship with Him, because He wants that relationship with you. It won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it to have Him in your life.”
