CULLMAN, Ala. –  One of the United Way of Cullman County’s most popular annual events – Designer Bag Bingo – took place Thursday, Nov. 7, bringing in a record-breaking $40,000.

Attendees paid a $50 fee to play, with a wide variety of designer handbags up for grabs, all donated by local businesses. Funds raised, including donations, go to the nonprofit’s General Fund to be allocated to its 18 partner agencies, meaning all the money stays right here in Cullman County to help those in need in the community.

Marketing Assistant Morgan Dingler shared, “We had a great turnout. We sold out of our seats and tables. We had over 600 hundred attendees this year!”

Women United Board Chair Katie Brown announced the Designer Bag Bingo Table Host Awards.

“This year, we are incredibly grateful to have award sponsors from The National for the host who collected the most tips. The award goes to Mr. Steve Moore, former board member of United Way of Cullman County, and employee at Walmart (Distribution Center), one of our major donors. Thank you for your dedication and support!” she said.

“In addition, we are excited to share that we’ve partnered with Pin High Cullman to offer a 3-month free membership as a special award for a host who collected a minimum of $250 in tips. We are pleased to announce that this year’s winner is Mr. Brandon Bone with Davidson Homes. A big thank-you to Brandon and Davidson Homes, who are proud Tier 1 Business Alliance Members of United Way. Your support means so much to us!” she continued. “We would also like to extend our thank-you to every single host and bag model who volunteered this year. This event wouldn’t have been nearly as successful without you all!”
