HOLLY POND, Ala. – Jackie Horton has been serving meals to homebound seniors for more than 40 years from the Holly Pond Senior Center. Because of her servant’s heart, she was recognized on Thursday, Nov. 7, at a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast at the center.

Guest speaker Rep. Randall Shedd, R-Fairview, was on-hand for the celebration of Horton’s generosity.

As Shedd presented Horton with a commendation from the Alabama House of Representatives in honor of her service to the community, he said, “(Speaker of the House) Rep. Nathaniel Ledbetter is recognizing Jackie Horton for 40 years of service, delivering meals at the Holly Pond Senior Center.”

All smiles, Horton said, “Wow.”

Many people joined in the festivities at the center on Thursday, including Cullman County Commissioner Kelly Duke. Horton and others were treated to breakfast and Horton also received beautiful flowers.
