HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Theatre Department has announced show times for its upcoming production of “Peter and the Starcatcher.” The musical production will be held Friday-Sunday, Nov. 8-10, at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre in the Garlan E. Gudger Sr. Student Center. Shows will be held Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission is a $10 donation for adults, $5 for students and children under 12.

A Tony Award-winning play, “Peter and the Starcatcher” tells the story of the origins of Peter Pan from a miserable orphan to The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up. Written by Rick Elice, the story is a wildly theatrical adaptation of the best-selling novel by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson, with stage direction by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers and music by Wayne Barker.

From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, “Peter and the Starcatcher”playfully explores the depths of greed and despair…and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.

“This show is a high-energy, fast-paced adventure for both the actors and audience,” said Angela Green, director and Theatre program instructor. “The set, designed by Mark Eccleston, is like a playscape jungle gym for the actors. I wanted this production to feel like a show you might have put on in the backyard for the neighborhood. As if some things, like a treehouse, could be turned into a pirate ship and curtains could be fashioned out of old bedsheets.”

James Knear of Arab will star as Peter, with Tristan Moseley of Mobile as Prentiss and Em Sharp of Bremen as Ted.

Elijah Hammick of Arab will portray the pirate Black Stache, with Ella Gibbs of Arab as Smee, Brynn McCain of Arab as Sanchez, Joshia Johnson of Cullman as Greggors and Breanna Briscoe of Arley, Kenzie Johnson of Pinson and Rebekah Clay of Homewood as additional pirates. Briscoe, Johnson and McCain will also act as Natives/Mollusks.
