OAKMAN, Ala. – The Vinemont Eagles were back on the road Friday night for big regional game at Oakman and the Eagles put together an impressive defensive performance to return home with a massive, 20-7 win over the Wildcats.

After a scoreless first quarter, Vinemont got on the board first when Hayden Robinson ran one into the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown and put the Eagles in front 6-0 early in the second. Oakman answered with a scoring drive of its own to take a 7-6 lead late in the second quarter and went into the locker room leading Vinemont by 1.

With just two seconds remaining in the third quarter, Rush Sandlin scored on a 7-yard touchdown run to make it a 12-7 game and Kayden Henderson punched in the two-point conversion to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead.

Vinemont’s defense continued to stifle the Wildcats in the fourth quarter and Henderson scored on a 7-yard touchdown run with less than two minutes to play to put the Eagles ahead 20-7. Oakman was unable to get any more points on the board in the final minute of the game and Vinemont left the stadium with an impressive, 20-7 win over the Wildcats.

The Eagles improve to 7-2 with the win and they’ll be back home next week to wrap up the regular season against Winfield.
