WATERLOO, Ala. – Addison made the long journey to the last high school you can reach in northwest Alabama and still be in the state, The Waterloo Cougars. Addison came away with a 51-6 win Danny Ditto Stadium and the Bulldogs could have named the score in this one as they were head and shoulders better than the young Cougars. The Addison B-team played the entire second half and actually beat the varsity Cougars 14-0.

The first quarter started with Addison recovering a Cougar on side kick at their own 45-yard line. On the Dawgs first play, QB Elijah Roberts hit WR Scout Flynn for a nice 32-yard gain down to the Cougar 23. Two plays later, Seth Hammack scampered in from 16 yards out for the Dawgs first touchdown. Wyatt Anderson kicked the extra point and with 10:44 to go in the first quarter, Addison led 7-0.

After an exchange of possessions, Addison’s Judah Wilkins picked off a Waterloo deep ball and returned it 37 yards to the Cougar 37-yard line. Three plays later, Bulldog FB Jaxson Williams pounded his way in from 1-yard out to give the Dawgs the touchdown. Anderson again kicked the extra point and with 6:39 left in the first quarter Addison led 14-0.

Waterloo then struck back quickly on the second play of their drive; Cougar QB Cecil Goacher hit a streaking Braylan McMullan on a beautiful 79-yard touchdown pass. This one Cougar play would literally be over half the yards that the Cougars would gain on the entire night. The two-point play was no good and with 5:35 left, Addison led 14-6.

On the Bulldogs next possession, it took the Dawgs four plays to go 54 yards for the touchdown. Williams again powered his way in from 7 yards out for his second touchdown of the night. Anderson nailed his third extra point and Addison led 21-6 with 4:13 to go in the first quarter.

Two series later, Waterloo took over on their own 33 and got a little drive going getting a first down. Then a defensive lineman had his dreams come true. Big Bradley Willette did his best Ryan “Hollywood” Williams impression as he batted up a Cougar pass, pawed it around a little bit, finally got control and lumbered all the way to the endzone from 50 yards out. Anderson ran in the two-point play and with 11:40 mark of the second quarter, Addison had this game well in hand at 29-6.

The Dawgs forced a Cougar punt and Addison took over at their own 25-yard line. Addison mixing the run, and the pass took 7 plays to go 75 yards for another Bulldog touchdown. Wilkins dashed in from 10 yards out for the score. Kaden Dyson threw a nice two-point conversion pass to Wilkins and the first half would end with Addison leading 37-6.

Waterloo received the second half kickoff and picked up two first downs before the Puppies forced a Cougar punt. Roberts took the punt back 55 yards for the Bulldog touchdown. Joey Wilson ran in the two-point conversion and with 8:25 to go in the third quarter, Addison extended the lead to 45-6.

On the next Cougar possession, Puppy DL Tucker “Rubble” Hayes recovered a Waterloo fumble at the Cougar 26-yard line.

Addison’s last touchdown of the night came as Anderson scored from 1-yard out to give Addison the 51-6 lead.  The two-point conversion was no good.  There would be no more scoring for the remainder of the game. Addison’s Pound Puppy Defense held the Cougars to only two first downs for the final quarter and a half, so they actually got some good game experience and played pretty well.

Addison moves to 4-3 and 3-1 region play. Addison will travel to Meek to play a big county and region game against the Tigers.
