CULLMAN, Ala- The Cullman County Fair Parade will march its way through downtown Cullman this Saturday, Sept. 28, in anticipation of the classic fall event, the Cullman County Fair, which will run Oct. 3-12.

Road closures will begin around 1:30 p.m. within the city of Cullman. From 1:30-4:30, U.S. Highway 31 North, beginning at Ninth Street Southwest and proceeding to Main Avenue Northwest, will be closed to all traffic.

Participants will begin signing in and lining up at noon. Sign-in will be held at the corner of Fourth Street Southwest and U.S. Highway 278. The Cullman Lions Club will have a tent set up to greet and sign in participants and will be providing maps for all parade walkers.

Setup and staging will be held in the blocks between Third and Seventh Avenues Southwest and Fifth and Ninth Streets Southwest. Line positions also indicate a participant’s position in the parade, which will run north of Highway 31 from Seventh Street Southwest to Arnold Street Northwest.

“This is a big deal for us to start off with the parade and get the community fired up. The community really gets to see the highlights of their community and we all have a good time” said Lions Club President Chris Brooks.

Parking for the parade is free, but local businesses do have the right to restrict public access to private parking areas; be aware of any signage or boundaries that may indicate a private parking lot or area.

The parade begins at 2 p.m. Get ready for lights, sirens beauty queens, marching bands and more – and of course, candy!

The parade is expected to run until 4:30.
