CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Fair Parade is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 28, and an important outreach effort is planned to share the gospel with the local community. WSCC Campus Ministries, in partnership with Tony and Wanda Townsend of Cullman First Baptist Church, will be leading an outreach event where volunteers will distribute 5,000 bottles of water, each labeled with the plan of salvation and a text code to a spiritual survey. The outreach aims to connect with paradegoers and offer them the opportunity to engage in a deeper conversation about faith.

Christy Langston Hicks, director of WSCC Campus Ministries, shared her passion for the event, saying, “When Mrs. Townsend and I first spoke, she began weeping over those in Cullman County who need so desperately to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew then that I must help her recruit volunteers to make this outreach a success.”

Volunteers from local churches, youth groups, college ministries and adults are needed to make this effort successful. Organizers are looking for participants to join them in passing out the water bottles and for donations of rolling coolers to help transport the water along the parade route.

The outreach event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, with volunteers meeting between noon and 1 p.m. at the old Inline Building, located at 209 Seventh St. SW, Cullman, AL, 35055 (behind Cullman First Baptist’s youth house).

For those interested in participating, please contact Wanda Townsend at 256-708-5949. Volunteers are also needed to help pack coolers from Tuesday through Friday in preparation for the event. Reach out to Townsend for more details on how to get involved.

“I want to thank you for being willing to partner with your brothers and sisters in sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Hicks shared.
