HOMEWOOD, Ala. – The Bearcats traveled to Homewood for a varsity matchup Monday afternoon and thanks to a great combined effort on the mound from Bennett Johnson and Fysher Dahlke, Cullman returned home with a 6-0 win over the Patriots. Johnson got the start and after 3.1 hitless inning of work, Dahlke finished things off with 3.2 spotless innings to complete a combined no-hitter. Johnson racked up eight strikeouts in the win and Dahlke struck out four.

After a scoreless first inning, the ‘Cats got on the board in the top of the second when Wyatt Buchannan laid down a bunt for a single and an error allowed Brooks Heatherly and Colter Bowen to score and make it a 2-0 game. Cullman stretched its lead to 3-0 in the third when Tanner Gaines drove in Carson Stancil with a single up the middle and after a pair of scoreless innings, Jonah Inman ripped a double into left field to plate Andrew Au and put the Bearcats on top 4-0 in the fifth.

A balk and an error allowed Stancil and Gaines to score in the seventh, giving Cullman a 6-0 road win over Homewood.

Stancil, Bowen and Buchannan each posted a pair of hits in the win. Gaines (one hit) and Inman (one hit) each recorded an RBI and Johnson, Heatherly and Cooper Loftin each added hits as well.

The ‘Cats will be back home at Bill Shelton Field Saturday to host a doubleheader with Mountain Brook starting at 11 a.m.
