HAZEL GREEN, Ala. – Arab hit the road for its regular season finale at Hazel Green Friday night and the Knights wrapped up a 7-2 regular season campaign with a 42-7 win over the Trojans. Arab will be off next week before traveling to Leeds for the opening round of the 5A state playoffs Nov. 10.

Hazel Green’s opening possession was cut short by a Wyatt Lamar interception and just three snaps later, Knights quarterback Drew Puccio sprinted past the Trojans defense for a 26-yard touchdown and Aiden Wooten’s extra point gave Arab a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. The Knights’ next drive was capped off by a 10-yard Logan Alldredge touchdown run to make it 14-0 but Hazel Green responded with some big plays through the air on its next possession and finished the drive in the end zone to cut the lead to 14-7 at the start of the second quarter.

Arab’s offense continued to move the chains and put together another scoring drive that ended with a 6-yard touchdown pass from Puccio to Luke Hudson. Wooten’s extra point attempt split the uprights and the Knights stretched their lead to 21-7 midway through the second. After a Trojans fumble was recovered by Logan Silva at Arab’s 36-yard line, the Knights worked the clock as they made their way down the field Alldredge capped off the drive with his second touchdown of the night to make it a 28-7 game with 29 seconds remaining. Arab went into the locker room leading Hazel Green by three touchdowns.

The Knights were forced to punt on their first possession of the third quarter but on their second drive, Puccio hit Dylan Kirkland for a 7-yard touchdown pass to put Arab in front 35-7 with three minutes left in the third. Later in the fourth quarter, the Knights capped things off with a touchdown run from Preston Pritchett, his first of the season, and returned home with a 42-7 win over the Trojans.

Arab finishes the regular season 7-2 and the Knights will be off next week before traveling to Leeds for the opening round of the 5A state playoffs Nov. 10.
