Obituary: Ceiley Ann Whaley

Funeral services for Ceiley Ann Whaley, of Hanceville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sep. 13, 2023 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview West Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Freeman will be officiating. Visitation for the public will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sep. 12, 2023 at Hanceville Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whaley was born on June 8, 1943 to Arthur Startley and Geraldine Downy in Birmingham. She passed away on Sep. 9, 2023 at the age of 80, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Mrs. Whaley was a member of Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church for many years. She loved Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves baseball. One of the many things she enjoyed doing in her free time was to collect cookie jars. She also worked at O’Neal Steele as a scheduler for many years and eventually retired from there. Above all, Ceiley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a nurturer by heart and always had the best hugs. Mrs. Whaley was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Teresa (Marty) Keeton, Johnny (Sally) Whaley, and Keitrah Cox; grandchildren, Crystal (Anthony) Brown, Jason (Niki) Keeton, Joshua (Sally) Whaley, C.J. Cox, Kelsey Bentley, Shandale Cox, and Maegan (Kyle) Tyler; great-grandchildren, Michael Brown, Emma Brown, Landon Johnson, Jayden Brown, Danielle Johnson, Sofia Bentley, Jordan Bentley, Braylen Ross, Daniel Taylor, Jackson Frerichs, Carter Frerichs, Brooks Frerichs, and Oliver Frerichs; sisters, Rebecca Woods, Judy Walker, and Cindy Goodwin; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ray Whaley; and brothers, Louie Startley, Russell Startley, and Ronnie Startley.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Keeton, Marty Keeton, Joshua Whaley, Anthony Brown, Michael Brown, Jayden Brown, and James Arthur Startley.
