(Updated) Cullman man dies after single-vehicle crash

CULLMAN, Ala. – A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, claimed the life of a Cullman man.

Alabama State Troopers said Maxwell W. Ratcliff, 24, was critically injured when a 2021 Dodge Ram left the roadway and struck a tree. They said Ratcliff was transported to Cullman Regional, where he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Shortly after the wreck, Troopers reported that Ratcliff was driving the 2021 Dodge Ram, and that passengers Calvin A. McNabb, 23, and Cole D. MacDonald, 24, both of Bremen, were injured and transported to area hospitals.

In an update released Nov. 29, 2023, Troopers said, “Through further investigation of the traffic fatality (sic), it was determined that Calvin A. McNabb, 23, of Bremen, was the driver of the 2021 Dodge Ram. Maxwell W. Ratcliff, 24, of Cullman, was a passenger in the vehicle.”

The crash occurred on County Road 107, approximately 2 miles northwest of Cold Springs, in Cullman County.
