William Henry Young, age 88, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023. He was born to Martin Henry and Gertrude Berrens Young on Aug. 30, 1934. Henry was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman. He graduated from St. Bernard College in Cullman and was employed for many years at Porter Mills in Cullman.
Henry is survived by his sons William Jerome Young (Nan Ferguson) of Cullman and Alan Ray Young of Northport, AL. He is also survived by his sisters Louise Weaver, Dolores Osborne and Patricia Weissend, all of Cullman; his brothers Joseph Young of Atlanta, GA, Raymond Young of Cullman, and John Young of Cullman. Henry is also survived by his grandchildren, Kreable Young (Bryan) of Seattle, WA, John Young (Hannah) of Athens, GA, and Nicolas Young (Autumn) of St. Petersburg, FL.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Sticher Young. He is also preceded by his parents, as well as his sister Mary Adams of Cullman, and his brothers James Young and Bernard Young, both of Cullman.
Visitation for Henry will be Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman. A rosary service will follow at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, with visitation continuing afterward, as necessary.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 217 2nd St SE, Cullman, Alabama 35055, with Interment in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cullman. Father Patrick Egan, OSB, will be officiating.
