Betty Sue (Almond) Graves left her earthly home for her Heavenly one on Friday, July 7, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Betty Sue was a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. A member of Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church for many decades, Betty was deeply devoted to her church family and a vital part of the community of Brushy Pond, where she spent most of her life. She spent her time cooking delicious meals for others, enjoying the bounty of her hard work in the garden, and enjoying racing on TV. She enjoyed a good Gospel singing and is surely enjoying the beauty of being with her Savior face to face.

Betty Sue was born Dec. 28, 1938 to LL Almond and Corrine Chandler. She is the oldest of their four children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Charles Lee and Jimmy. She has a surviving sister, Barbara Ann (Larry) Hunt, of Arab.

Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rayburn; daughters Janice (Allen) Speegle, and Kim (Hadi) Mehrooz.  She has three granddaughters- Jill (Rod) Windham, Emily (Brandon) McMurry, and Lori (Seth) Adgate.  She is the proud great-grandmother of nine beautiful grandchildren, whom she loved very much.

Betty Sue’s viewing will be Sunday, July 9, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church, with the funeral service Monday, July 10, at 11 a.m., also at Ryan’s Creek.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Graves, Roland Graves, Mike Thomas, Randy Graves, Lecil Hancock, and Julian Swann.

The family thanks you for your support and prayers during Betty’s illness. We mourn, but not without hope.  For we know the Scripture is true, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We invite you to celebrate her life with us.
