Obituary: Elbert Junior Boatright

Funeral service for Elbert Junior Boatright, will be held at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. Mr. Boatright will lie in state from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service; with Rev. Jimmy Peyton officiating; burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Boatright passed away on June 10, 2023 at his residence in the Welti Community. Junior was born on May 23, 1932, to James Elbert Boatright and Ruby White Boatright. Junior was employed for 41 years at Haynes Aircraft in Birmingham and also owned a farm in Cullman.

Junior is survived by his wife, Brenda Boatright to whom he was married 65 years; son, Greg (Holly) Boatright; daughter, Donna Oglesby; granddaughter, Nikki Oglesby; grandson, John Taylor Boatright; great-grandson, Jeremiah Oglesby; great-granddaughter, Jayda Oglesby; sister, Joyce Drake.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene Boatright and Vaughn Boatright; sisters, Louise Boatright, Evelin Amick, and Blanch Prince; and his grandson, Charlie Bennett Boatright.

Junior was a member of the Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he worshipped and served as an Elder. Junior was very dependable in his service to his fellowmen. He leaves behind many friends in his church family. Junior served in the United States Army and received his Honorable Discharge Feb. 28, 1962.
