Obituary: Edna Faye Elrod

Edna Faye Elrod passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in Pell City, Alabama. She was born June 17, 1932, in Cullman, Alabama to the late Joseph C. Pearson and Emma Lou Harper Pearson. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1951. Later that year, she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Elrod.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph C. Pearson and Emma Harper Pearson; son, Michael S. Elrod and sister, Annetta Pearson Parker.

She is survived by her husband of over 71 years, Kenneth Elrod; daughter, Sharon (David) Wilson of Lincoln, Alabama; grandchildren, Autumn Wilson, Jeremy (Lindsey) Wilson, Virginia Elrod- Mangham, Michael (Kim) Elrod, and Andrea Elrod; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Earlene Love, Barbara Hyatt, and Sue Burke; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is called Grandmother by her grandchildren and GG by her great- grandchildren. She loved her family fiercely and often showed that through food. Among her many specialties, her fried chicken, homemade biscuits and chocolate cake with buttermilk icing were family favorite standouts. Candy and Dr. Pepper were always stocked for anyone who dropped by. She was well known for her magical purse that always had exactly what you needed. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A graveside service will be Saturday May 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at New Hope #2 Cemetery, Lee Witherington will be officiating.
