CULLMAN, Ala. – According to the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries, funds are still available for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
SFMNP is a federally funded program administered by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries’ Farmers Market Authority Section which provides seniors who meet certain financial eligibility requirements with a $50 benefit card to purchase fresh produce from certified farmers at farmers markets and farm stands in Alabama, from May to November.
Funds can be used at state-sanctioned farmers markets, farm stands or u-pick operations.
Previous card holders can keep the original card but MUST reapply, along with any new seniors.
