CULLMAN, Ala. – Summer is coming. Tans are getting darker, clothes are getting brighter and teeth are getting whiter. That last bit is thanks to Dr. Jonathan Echols and his practice, Cullman Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, running the “Smiles for Life” teeth whitening campaign to benefit local nonprofit Cullman Caring for Kids.
The campaign, running now through June 30, is simple, according to the Smiles for Life Foundation: “From March through June, participating Smiles for Life dentists donate their time to professionally whiten smiles. Ultradent, makers of Boost and Opalescence, donates the teeth whitening materials and 100% of all proceeds go to the Smiles for Life Foundation (benefiting) children all over the world.”
Said Abbie Harris, social media coordinator of Cullman Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, “We don’t get ANY money from this. It is ALL for charity!”
The Smiles for Life Foundation’s key mission is promoting access to oral health care and dental care, in the United States and globally. Per the foundation’s website, “Some of these funds go toward funding much needed dental health trips to developing nations. So the entire world can benefit from your new smile; it can travel around the world and pass from patient to patient, making life a little better for a lot of people.” The foundation has raised nearly $48 million distributed through myriad charities since its inception in 1998.
Cullman Caring for Kids is a local nonprofit that is multi-faceted in its approach to holistically improving the lives of all children in the local community. It offers a wide range of programs, including a food bank and mobile unit food bank and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, as well as its blue ribbon child abuse awareness campaign.
