FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Aggies were back home at Mark Moore Field Tuesday night to host a matchup with Oneonta and after jumping out to an early lead, a 10-run fifth inning allowed the Redskins to pull ahead with a big lead and eventually claim a 13-6 win over Fairview.

The Redskins drew a walk to lead off the top of the first but a few pitches later, Aggies starter Carson Jones picked off the runner at second to get the first out. A strikeout and a ground ball to shortstop Crimson Wright ended the top of the first and Fairview got off to a hot start in the bottom half of the inning. Wright and Lucas West led things off with back to back singles and Barrett York was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Caden Jennings. Jennings swung at the first pitch he saw and shot a bases-clearing double into left field to put the Aggies on top 3-0 at the end of the first.

Fairview added to its lead in the second inning. An RBI single from West made it a 4-0 game and Wright scored from third on an error a few pitches later to stretch the lead to 5-0 going into the third. However, Oneonta started hitting back in the top of the third, scoring runs on a sacrifice fly and a 2-run single into left field to cut the lead to 5-3. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Redskins’ bats exploded in the top of the fifth. Oneonta sent 14 batters to the plate during the inning and scored 10 runs on six hits, including a 2-run homerun, to pull ahead and take a 13-5 lead.

The Aggies pushed another run across in the top of the sixth with an RBI double off the bat of York to make it 13-6 but that was as much as Fairview could chip away in the final two innings and the Redskins went on to win it 13-6.

West finished with a pair of hits and an RBI in the loss and Jennings (one hit) drove in a pair of runs as well. York (one RBI), Wright and Connor Scott each added hits for the Aggies.

Fairview will be back home Wednesday night to host New Hope at 4:30.
