HOLLY POND, Ala. – The Holly Pond Lady Broncos hosted the Brewer Lady Patriots for a Thursday afternoon matchup and Brewer got off to an early lead. The Patriots didn’t let Holly Pond get anything going offensively and ended up shutting out the Lady Broncos 12-0.
Brewer scored their first runs of the game in their opening at-bats on a passed ball and an RBI single, then they made it 3-0 on an RBI single in the second. Molly Neal hit a leadoff single in the Lady Broncos’ half, but three straight strikeouts left her stranded at first. The top of the fourth saw Brewer put up two more runs as an RBI double and an RBI groundout made it 5-0.
The Lady Patriots added four more runs in the top of the fifth, which including a three-run home run over the center field fence, then they would get their final runs of the game on a bases-clearing double in the sixth. Holly Pond went down in order in their half as the Lady Broncos ended up falling to the Lady Patriots 12-0. Neal finished with the only hit of the game for Holly Pond (3-4).
The Lady Broncos will host Good Hope Friday.
