Pat Hicks (Cayla Grace Murphy for The Cullman Tribune)

HOLLY POND, Ala. – Pat Hicks is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to textile-related heritage skills. An avid quilter and crocheter, she leads artists, new and experienced alike, in crochet classes at the Guy Hunt Library in Holly Pond. This week’s class had an emphasis on double stitching.

From attending the class it was clear that Hicks is knowledgeable not only in the subject matter, but also in the manner of teaching; she is unique in that she guides the crocheters with her back turned, arms raised, all the while instructing students on where to slip and stitch.

There is always room for more students. The class meets every Wednesday at 1 p.m., weather permitting. For more information, call the Guy Hunt Library at 256-796-5226.
