Funeral Service for Demaris C. Fortenberry, age 96, of Eva, will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, interment in Union Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Fortenberry passed away on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born March 16, 1926, in Eva, Alabama, to George C. Childers Sr. and Bessie Bates Childers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Fortenberry; parents, George C. Childers Sr. and Bessie Bates Childers; sisters, Evilee Fortenberry, Averine Holmes, Mildred White, and Jimmie Lou Gable; brother, Cleburn Childers; and great-granddaughter, Darbi Winkworth.
Survivors include her son, Johnny E. (JoAnn) Fortenberry; daughter, Ellen (William) Faurot; grandchildren, Susan (John) DiJulio, John Mark Faurot, Heather (Josh) Tucker, and Jonna (Graham) Winkworth; great-grandchildren, Nicholas DiJulio, Sophia DiJulio, Justin Faurot, Dylan Faurot, John Hunter Tucker, Maggie Grace Tucker, Caden Winkworth, and Lucas Winkworth; brother, G. C. Childers; sisters, Annie Ruth Boyd, Barbara Frost, and Gayle Frost; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
