OAKMAN, Ala. – The Tigers hit the road looking to make history at Oakman Friday night and they did just that, defeating the Wildcats 48-22 to complete the first 10-0 regular season in school history. Meek’s last undefeated season was in 1958 when the Tigers finished the year 9-0-1 but this year’s team is the first to put together a perfect, 10-0 regular season.

Meek got its first points on the board with a 3-yard touchdown run by Blake Miller and Cam Deaver punched in the two-point conversion to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead early in the first quarter. They added to their lead when Ory Frith scored on a 9-yard run and Miller dove in for the two-point conversion to make it a 16-0 game, but the Wildcats responded with a 70-yard scoring run of their own to trim the lead to 16-6 with two minutes remaining in the first.

Meek responded with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Deaver to Braylon Roberts and after Miller ran in the two-pointer, the Tigers were back in front 24-6 midway through the second quarter. Another touchdown run by Miller and a two-point conversion pass from Bradigan Farmer to Frith put Meek ahead 32-6 with just under two minutes to play in the first half but Oakman managed to find the end zone twice in the final two minutes to trim the lead to 32-22 going into the locker room at the break.

The Tigers got the second half started with a long, methodical drive that ended with an 8-yard touchdown run by Deaver. Deaver connected with Roberts on the two-point conversion and Meek pulled ahead 40-22 midway through the third. The Wildcats put together a long drive on their next possession and moved the ball deep into Tiger territory late in the third, but Meek’s defense held strong and kept Oakman out of the end zone to preserve the 18-point lead. The Tigers responded with a big drive of their own but capped theirs off in the end zone when Deaver dove across the goal line to score from 12 yards out. Deaver ran in the two-point conversion to make it a 48-22 game with 10 minutes remaining.

Meek got one more stop to get the ball back to its offense midway through the fourth quarter and was able to run out the rest of the time on the clock to secure a 48-22 win and the first 10-0 season in school history.

The Tigers will be back home for the first round of the 1A State Playoffs next week to face Cedar Bluff.
