Obituary: Emery Alton Parker

A funeral service for Emery Alton Parker, 82, of Bremen, Alabama will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18th at Bremen Baptist Church. Mr. Parker will lie in repose at the church on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Ryan’s Creek Cemetery in Bremen. Reverends Odis Garmon Jr. and Terry Blankenship will be officiating the funeral service with Reverend David Speegle officiating the graveside service. Visitation for the public will be from 5 – 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17th at Bremen Baptist Church.

Mr. Parker was born on Sept. 23, 1939, in Cullman County, Alabama. He died at the age of 82 on September 11, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Parker was a member of the Bremen Quartet where he sang for nearly 60 years. He also had a passion for teaching individuals how to explore their singing capabilities. Emery was an active member of Bremen Baptist Church and served as a deacon and a song director. He was cared for and loved by those in his community and abroad.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years: Marion Parker; children: Denise (Tim) Hardin, Wayne Parker and Cindy (Keith) Hancock; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Rachel Roberts, Dan Stevens and Perry Stevens; sisters-in-law: Jan Parker and Dianne (Grady) Christian; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many extended friends.

Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents: Alton and Hazel (Sandlin) Parker; brothers: Berl Parker and Earl Parker; brother-in-law: Donny Lynn; sister-in-law: Debbie Stevens; and mother and father-in-law: Gaston and Elvia Lynn.
