Obituary: Louise Kanaday

Louise Kanaday, age 94 of Hanceville passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab. She was born on July 2, 1928, in Blount County Alabama to Ellis Thomas and Gay Millican Thomas. Mrs. Kanaday worked for the Hanceville School in the lunchroom for 30 plus years; she enjoyed working in her flower beds and traveling to the Great Smokey Mountains. Mrs. Kanaday was a member of Bethlehem East Baptist Church for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Colbert Kanaday; parents: Ellis and Gay Millican Thomas; brothers: Jimmy and Charles Thomas. She leaves behind to cherish her memory by her children: Frances (Tommy) Foust and Garry (Rebecca) Kanaday; grandchildren: Traci (Brian) Stewart, David (Christie) Foust, Johnathan (Kim) Kanaday and Valarie Burden; great grandchildren: Chris (Jodie) Kanaday, Cody Kanaday, Bryce Burden, Reagan Burden, Zachary Stewart, Lindsey Stewart, Michael Foust and Anna Mason; great-great grandchildren: Mason and Kenleigh Kanaday; brother: Billy Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem East Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be David Foust, Michael Foust, Zachary Stewart, Johnathan Kanaday, Cody Kanaday and Chris Kanaday.
