CULLMAN, Ala. – This Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m.-noon, those in need can go by The Link of Cullman County’s drive-through for food and school supplies.
The Family Food Box Giveaway is a partnership between The Link, Great Good Music, country music superstar Jamey Johnson, Morgan Wallen and Warehouse Discount Groceries. The boxes holding the goods are donated by WestRock. Five-hundred food boxes will be given away, and the school supplies, sponsored by the United Way of Cullman County, will be available by request while supplies last.
Johnson and Wallen will be performing this weekend in Cullman as part of the Rock the South music festival.
Melissa Betts, executive director of The Link, shared, “Large events that take place in our county also have the opportunity to raise awareness of needs in our county. The economic impact made is such a blessing. When Greater Good Music approached us with this idea last year, we were thrilled.
Started in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Greater Good Music seeks to make an impact in the lives of the more than 40 million Americans facing hunger every day. The organization partners with nationally renowned musicians such as Johnson, Miranda Lambert and Martina McBride to supply food donations to food pantries throughout the country.
Betts continued, “Over the last two years and (with) the impact of the pandemic, our county has needs that together we can address. We host a monthly community partner meeting so that we can work together to help others and make the largest impact we can. We are better together! A spirit of unity can change the world!”
The Link of Cullman County is located at 708 Ninth St. SE in Cullman.
