HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The community swimming pool at Hanceville’s C.W. Day Park is open again following its abrupt closure just prior to the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The untimely malfunctioning of one of the pool’s pumps was remedied and the water is clear and ready for visitors again.

Pool manager Chris Johnson shared, “We’re finally back open after being closed for roughly a week. We had a catastrophic failure with our pump suddenly that caught us completely off guard at, unfortunately, the busiest time of the year. We were able to get everything fixed and actually made a few improvements. We’re now back open and better than ever.”

Welcoming the community back to one of only two outdoor public pools in the county (outside of Cullman’s WildWater park), Johnson gave an enticing invitation.

“The pool is clear, and the pool feels great,” he said. “We’re looking forward to having everybody back out. We are looking at having a couple of discount days coming up and some coming attractions to welcome everybody back.”

The kiddie pool has been a delight to visitors after being closed for a few years. Improvements this year include a new wooden diving platform and the replacement of the diving board on the original diving platform.

The pool is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday from noon-6 p.m.
