CULLMAN, Ala. – German Axe Throwing Company has been operating as the original axe throwing and mechanical bull riding venue in Cullman since February of 2021. They are currently finishing up construction on the extension of their building located at 419 Main Ave which will include a brand new rage room. The rage room is a unique, fun place for groups or individuals to have a cathartic experience, releasing emotional tension by smashing the items on display. Some items for smashing will be glass bottles filled with colored powder so participants can see the results of their demolition. Safety glasses and suits to protect clothing will be provided.
They plan to hold a grand opening on Saturday, July 9 to welcome the public to the new and improved space. Kayla Reel said that it will be a big event, “We’re going to have live music, hope to have a food truck, maybe a car show outside.” The extension will allow more people in the community to experience the destructive fun.
The construction has allowed for a new entrance to the building where customers can get a first view of “Fancy” the mechanical bull, foosball tables, a golf simulator and a stage where live music and karaoke will be performed. Parties interested in axe throwing can walk in or reserve on https://germanaxethrowing.com/ to be sure to have a lane to use. Groups can include up to eight people. German Axe Throwing Co. hosts every kind of group including families, church groups, birthday parties, couples on dates, etc.
For those who want to earn points to win a game rather than throwing axes at random, German Axe Throwing Company posted these rules, “At German Axe – we generally don’t take ourselves too seriously. Any day we’re throwing axes into targets is a good day! But for those that choose to play by the rules – here’s how you score.
- Each individual match consists of 10 throws/competitor
- The black line awards points associated with the ring
- 6 points for the bullseye
- 4 points for the 2nd ring
- 3 points for the 3rd ring
- 2 points for the 4th ring
- 1 point for the 5th ring
- 10 points for the blue dots, also known as the ‘kill shot’
- The kill shot is only available on the 10th and final throw of the match. Otherwise, the blue dots are worth 1 point”
Reel said there is no special technique to hitting the target, “Just chunk it and have fun,” she said. The weekend glow throws start at 9:00 p.m. through midnight. Parties are also allowed to bring their own beer.
