GOOD HOPE, Ala. – The Lady Raiders returned to Greg Owen Field Wednesday night to host Oak Grove and they racked up 14 hits to roll past the Lady Tigers 8-4. After three scoreless innings, Good Hope plated a pair of runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth to pull away.

Both starters were on top of their games through the first two innings. In the third inning, though, Lady Raider starter Addyson Burgess ran into a little bit of trouble with two outs as she allowed back-to-back singles. Burgess struck out the next batter to get out of the inning unscathed. Oak Grove threatened once again in the top of the fourth inning as a pair of singles and an error loaded the bases with two outs. Burgess got the next batter to pop out to first base as she once again escaped a big jam.

Good Hope got a two-out rally started in the bottom of the fourth. Campbell Koch lined a single to center field on the first pitch, then Carly Adams hit a double to center field on the first pitch as well to put runners on second and third. Natalie Miller got the Lady Raiders on the scoreboard with a two-run single and Good Hope went into the top of the fifth inning with a 2-0 lead.

For the second straight inning, the Lady Tigers loaded the bases with two outs. A bases-loaded walk made it a 2-1 game, but Burgess struck out the next batter to limit the damage to just one run. Good Hope broke the game open in their half of the fifth. Alexandria Steed and Bailey Keef hit back-to-back singles to get things started for the Lady Raiders, then Haley Lay drove them both in with a two-run double to push their lead to 4-1. A Koch single and an Adams walk loaded the bases with one out for Miller, who lined a two-run single to center field as that made it 6-1.

Oak Grove added a run in the top of the sixth on a Good Hope error to cut it to 6-2. Steed led off the Lady Raider sixth with a single, then later scored on a Burgess RBI double to make it 7-2. Koch reached on a Lady Tiger error and Adams would make them pay as she lined an RBI single to center field to increase their lead to 8-2. Oak Grove trimmed into the Good Hope lead in the top of the seventh as a two-run double made it an 8-4 game. They wouldn’t get any closer after that as a pop out and a ground out ended the game and the Lady Raiders picked up an 8-4 win in their home finale over Oak Grove. Burgess went the distance for Good Hope, allowing four runs (two earned) on nine hits and striking out seven. Miller led the way at the plate with two hits and four RBIs. Lay added a hit and two RBIs. Adams ended up with a pair of hits and two RBIs. Burgess collected a hit and an RBI in the contest. Steed and Koch each added three hits, while Keef and Shelby Whitfield each collected a hit as well.

The Lady Raiders will look to get another win in their final regular season game of the year when they travel to take on Cordova Thursday.
