HARTELLE, Ala. – It’s beginning to look a lot like French Alpine Christmas at Cedar Grove Farms, located in Hartselle. The shop and barn are decked out in traditional red and green, and adorned with lots of gingerbread. Cedar Grove Farms will be hosting this event all day Friday and Saturday, November 19 – 20.

“We have picked all over to bring you beautiful vintage sleds and skates and sourced some amazing Christmas decor. The Summer Kitchen will be here with her amazing cinnamon rolls, so come grab a sweet treat and get ready for the most wonderful time of the year!”, reads the most recent announcement for French Alpine Christmas.

Cedar Grove Farms owner Melanie Kolb said, “I hand-pick beautiful vintage French farmhouse pieces all over the U.S. and mix them with lovely, new vintage style items to give you the perfect mix of old and new. I specialize in architectural salvage and designer florals to give your home a one-of-a-kind look. My shop is on a 40-acre farm, nestled in a mountain cove in Hartselle. We opened in May of 2020 because COVID canceled most of the pop-up markets where I had previously sold my décor items.”

She continued, “We have the shop and barn all decked out for some Christmas decorating inspiration. The shop is filled with gorgeous French Alpine inspired items in neutrals and blues and the barn is all styled in traditional red and green—Our guest vendor this weekend is Loretta with The Summer Kitchen, and she is bringing her amazing homemade cinnamon rolls and sourdough breads. Come spend a relaxing day shopping the farm and enjoying our fabulous fall mountain views.”

The Summer Kitchen is well known for their cinnamon rolls, orange rolls, sourdough bread and many other warm treats, and will also be selling t-shirts and reusable shopping bags, along with food trays to showcase selections that will be available to preorder for Holiday gatherings.

Owner of The Summer Kitchen Loretta Gilstrap said, “I am a cottage industry owner baking, cooking and canning from my own home, with my husband (aka my taste tester) providing lots of support. Alabama laws state that my sales must be done person to person. I sell at various events throughout the year, while taking personal orders in between events.”

“This is my second year to be invited as a guest vendor to Cedar Grove Farms’ event, and I am extremely excited to be returning,” she shared. “I will have sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls and orange rolls and dinner rolls available to purchase. I will also have assorted goodies like cookies, peanut butter balls and such available. I will have preorder forms for anyone who wants to place orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas.”

She continued, “The purpose of the summer kitchen in days gone by was to keep from overheating the entire house. Don’t overheat, or overwork. Let us do the baking for you. Come hungry. Melanie and her elves have her place looking fabulous so come get your decorating, and gift shopping done.”
