CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman High School Theatre on Saturday swept the District 3 competition of the Alabama Conference of Theatre’s Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival with its production of “Over the River and Through the Woods,” qualifying the team to compete for state honors at Troy University in December.

“We are so proud,” said Cullman High School Theatre Director Wayne Cook. “Our theater department graduated a ton of seasoned actors last year and we are very young, but the students have risen to the task and we are very proud of them.”

Cullman High Music Director Sarah Jane Skinner added, “They have worked so hard on this show, and we are both just so proud of their progress. The main cast is very small, but they all bring such energy and joy that completely fills the stage. I think everyone should come out and see it at the public performances, because it is a hilarious, touching story. These kids truly bring it to life, and I can guarantee that every person in the audience will see some aspect of a loved one reflected in these characters. I could not be more proud of these talented, hard working, wonderful kids!”

The troupe will present the one-act show on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 11 and 12, at Cullman High School.
